How to fill a stocking — Fill with gifts in a variety of sizes — if all the gifts are large, you won’t get many in. One to two large gifts, four to six medium-sized gifts and 10 small gifts is a good guide. Make sure that some of the goodies poke out of the top, and preferably hang over the cuff. Stuff the toe of the stocking with something that fills it and has some heft, to make the stocking hang correctly. An orange or tangerine makes a good toe stuffer. Coins, especially unusual denominations, are good stuffers and hearken to stockings’ history. Wrap some gifts for added surprise and delight. Nuts in shells make good filler.
