Christmas came early last week for a few people in southern West Virginia. During the Christmas in July celebration, the five dealerships making up the Thornhill Auto Group gave a vehicle each to two deserving individuals. Throughout July, Thornhill Auto Group accepted letters at all locations from individuals nominating themselves or someone they know for a chance at winning a car. “We had over a thousand letters in just a few weeks,” said Sydney Thornhill Brown. “We gave them all to a committee of local residents to choose the top 20 ranking them.” The 20 nominees gathered at Thornhill Ford Lincoln on Corridor-G in Chapmanville July 30 to find out which two would drive away with the giveaway cars. The winners were Clay Norris of Charleston, and Kathy Martin of Henlawson. Norris was nominated by fellow worker Renee Daily and now owns a Mitsubishi Lancer. Martin was nominated by her pastor, Ron Chambers of New Covenant Fellowship Church, and now owns a Chevrolet Cavalier. Posing with Santa after the drawing were, from second left, Wally Thornhill, Clay Norris, Hanna Martin, Kathy Martin, Sydney Thornhill-Brown. “It’s wonderful to be able to give back to the community like this,” said Wally Thornhill. “This is something we would like to do every year.”
