To celebrate National Travel & Tourism Week, which is May 9-17, the New River Gorge Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Southern West Virginia Convention & Visitors Bureau visited with the Fayette County Commission Friday to present symbolic checks recognizing the impact of travel spending in Fayette County in the amount of $58.8 million and in southern West Virginia in the amount of $643.5 million, according to figures compiled by Dean Runion and Associates. That equates to tax relief totaling $214.78 per household in Fayette County. Representatives of the CVBs pledged to continue to promote and market the area as a destination.
