Richard Jarrell, left, and Frank Wood were part of the team that led the United Way of Southern West Virginia to reaching its goal of $500,000 in 2012-13. Wood served as Jarrell’s vice chairman during the recently completed campaign and has moved up to the chairman’s post for this year. The United Way is one of many community organizations Wood has actively participated in during his professional career in the newspaper business that now spans more than four decades.
