Pettry Bottom resident Teresa McLaine, left, talks with Arnett resident Ronald Davis Saturday morning after a massive rock slide Friday night closed a section of Coal River Road (W.Va. 3). Area residents and Division of Highways workers on the scene said the most likely cause of the slide was water seeping behind the boulders over time and freezing, pushing the overhanging rocks outward and causing them to break off above the road.
